"For most people, Coney Island is paradise by the sea..."
But not for Barry, at least not since Mary passed almost twenty years ago. Barry lives alone on the streets or in subsidized housing in Brooklyn, and for him, Coney Island is a dangerous and violent place when the two short months of summer tourist season are over.
I had the opportunity to speak with Barry and spend a day on the island as he shared treasures and secrets. This book is a celebration of Mary's love for Barry, and a testimony to the residents of Coney Island and the hardships they face.
